How would you like to get fit, feel alive, smell the roses and sample a variety of coffee spots in the beautiful Eurobodalla Shire.
Eurobodalla Bicycle User Group (EuroBUG) has been providing all of that, in a wonderful social atmosphere since 2007. There is a mix of men and women of varied ages and fitness levels. They all have a desire for exercise, a fondness for fresh air and a wish to explore the magnificent scenery that our area has to offer. But perhaps one of the greatest outcomes is the friendships that have been formed in the group.
This strong social side to the rides comes to the fore over a cup of coffee at the end of the rides or sometimes at the mid point of a ride.
Our group is mainly comprised of retirees, but we do have some riders who manage to find time off work to join us. We normally have 25 to 60 riders on our regular Monday rides with smaller numbers in general on the two Wednesday ride groups. These Wednesday rides are shorter and easier. The rides are all over the Shire plus Bermagui and just into Shoalhaven Shire to the north. The rides are in some of the most scenic parts of our area and for many, the rides will take you to places you haven't ventured to before or even knew existed.
There is no charge to join the rides. There is a very small annual fee for membership of the Group.
On each day we normally have several different paced riding groups and distances to handle a variety of fitness levels, so there will definitely be a group to suit your current level of fitness. We try to strike a balance between social riding and still having a bit of a work out. The social side is however very important to us.
The nominated distances in the Calendar are for the complete ride and there are often shorter and easier options.
You need a mountain bike or similar as we ride a lot on gravel roads and some tracks.
EuroBUG also organises a couple of trips away each year. Most commonly to the Rail Trails in Victoria. We have also visited the Snowies and ridden from there to the coast. Canberra has also been a popular venue. However we have also cycled the Loire Valley in France and had two trips to New Zealand. A list of our trips can be found under the "MORE" tab above.
